A vibrant concoction of exciting new creative independents has been quietly cropping up along Winchester’s discerning Southgate Street. In what has become an exciting resurgence of the independents, residents and indeed visitors can be treated to a cultural delight and inspiration from home interiors, fine art, to style and fashion.
Nestled among the better-known stature of Hotel du Vin, this exciting collection of retailers have joined forces to host the inaugural Southgate Street Soiree. An evening that promises a rekindled discovery of Southgate Street, all whilst enjoying a glass of prosecco, canapés and conversation.
BluBambu is one of six venues taking part alongside Claridge Fine Art, championing contemporary and emerging fine art; Searle & Taylor, a bespoke kitchen design service; Sass & Edge, an award-winning independent womenswear boutique and familiar franchises Toni & Guy and Hotel du Vin & Bistro.
Each venue will offer customers the chance to discover what we believe to be a fantastic cultural extension of the City, with a real mix of both well-known and independent businesses. Shoppers are invited to pop into each of the venues, who will be offering their own refreshments, before finishing up at Hotel du Vin for a special Southgate Street cocktail.
BluBambu’s Owner Dave Littlewood said: “As the newest arrival to Southgate Street, I’m looking forward to giving local residents the opportunity to see what we’re all about. It’s a real pleasure to bring a taste of the Far East to Winchester. Every piece of furniture in BluBambu tells its own unique story, we offer beautiful handcrafted furniture and accessories for your home that are made from reclaimed materials sourced from Indonesia.
“The feedback we’ve received since we opened a few months ago has been extremely positive and it’s especially promising to hear there are genuine interest and support from Winchester residents to shop and support local business. It’s nice, therefore, to give something back and make the effort to celebrate the occasion with our customers.”
The Southgate Street Soiree takes place on Thursday 19 July from 6-9pm.
